SAN FRANCISCO, June 6, (THEWILL) – AIT and Ray Power FM, the television and Radio stations operated by Daar Communications Plc have been shut down by the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC following their persistent violation of 2004 broadcasting Code, the agency said.
The suspension of the license of the broadcaster, owned by businessman, Raymond Dokpesi, a prominent member and supporter of main opposition, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was announced Thursday by the Director General of the NBC, Dr. Modibbo Kawu. He said said the broadcaster ignored persistent warnings to tow the line of caution.
The regulator said its decision was non-partisan.
