November 26, (THEWILL) – After over 9 months of diplomatic issues, the Federal Government, on Friday lifted restrictions on Emirates airline flights to the country.
Earlier this year, Nigeria suspended Emirates from flying into or out of its territory after the United Arab Emirates (UAE) carrier imposed additional COVID-19 test requirements on passengers from Nigeria.
Announcing the suspension of the Emirates flights into the country, Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika said, “Today we received communications from Emirates removing some of the conditions for travelling for which we had concerns” .
Senator Sirika added that, with such gesture from Emirates, it is necessary to lift the ban on them.
“This subsequent lifting of ban is a product of lengthy negotiations between us and them”, Sirika stated.
