July 07, (THEWILL) – The Bayelsa State-owned Niger Delta University (NDU), Amassoma, has been shut down as a result of the protests embarked upon by students over the introduction of school uniforms and the closing of the school fees portals.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah, said the government had intervened on the lingering issues.

As at the time of filing this report, sources said the management and the Vice Chancellor were in a closed-door meeting with members of the State House of Assembly at the complex in Yenagoa.

Our sources at the university hinted THEWILL that the VC, Professor Samuel Edoumiekumo, had earlier ordered students to vacate the school by 3pm today.

Whatsapp messages sent by THEWILL to the Vice Chancellor for clarifications on the situation went unanswered.
