BEVERLY HILLS, February 12, (THEWILL) – A group of Militants in the Niger Delta known as the Niger Delta Revolutionary Crusaders has called for a cease fire in the region following the visit of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to Bayelsa State.

The group in a statement released on Sunday by Wo1 Izon-ebi revealed that the group is pleased with the determination of the government in solving the Niger-Delta crisis.

Quoting the senior pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly, pastor Tunde Bakare, in his interview granted to one of the media houses, the group commended President Muhhamadu Buhari for choosing Osinbajo as his vice.

“Mr President told him that he wants a vice president that can drive his vision for a better Nigeria without fear or favour,” the group said.

“We thank Mr President for his vision of choosing Prof Yemi Osibanjo as his vice. We want to appreciate Mr President for his vision, courage and determination in solving the Niger Delta question honestly.

“We are proud of the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osibanjo, as we see sincerity and determination in him. We also salute the minister of petroleum for state, Ibe Kachukwu and the chairman of NDDC, Senator Victor Ndoma Egba.

“We make bold today the visit of the Acting President Pro Yemi Osibanjo, the honourable minister of petroleum for state and the distinguished members of his fact finding team to the Jerusalem of the Ijaw nation, Bayelsa state, as we sincerely give him our support and stand by him to realizing his vision for a better, peaceful and prosperous Niger Delta region.

“But we have doubts about some of the people that are saddled with the responsibility of realizing his vision that we all share. In our previous press release, we have made known to the world our 7-point demand and we are using this medium to say that we are in line with the vision of the Acting President and therefore call all our fighters to halt all hostilities pending the outcome of this wonderful and historic fact finding mission.

“The Acting President has a good vision and at the same time practical solutions to the problems of the Niger Delta. But we are afraid that not all the people working with him share his vision as our investigation reveals that only 30% of people saddled with the responsibility are committed.

“Therefore we advise that as a matter of urgency the acting president should reconstitute all the federal agencies and parastatals that are in one way connected or involved with the Niger-Delta.”
