NFF, Stationery Stores Remember Muda Lawal

SAN FRANCISCO, July 07, (THEWILL) – Lagos-based Stationery Stores and the Nigeria Football Federation have eulogized former national team midfielder, Muda Lawal, who played for Nigeria at a time the team was known as the Green Eagles.

The Nigeria Football Federation in its Twitter handle wrote: “Today we remember one of Nigeria’s greatest players, Mudashiru Babatunde Lawal who passed on, on this day in 1991.

“May his soul continue to rest in peace. #WeRememberMudaLawal.”

Also, Stores FC, which used to be the deceased midfielder’s club from 1985 and 1986, also paid tributes.

The club wrote: “Today we remember, Haji Muda Lawal who left us on this day in 1991.

“Keep resting legend.”

THEWILL reports that the late midfielder was instrumental in Nigeria winning her first African Cup of Nations in 1980 and till date remains the only player in Africa to have featured at five consecutive Nations’ Cup finals (1976–1984).
