March 15, (THEWILL) – Arsenal are optimistic that Mikel Arteta will sign a new long-term contract with the club, despite the fact that Paris Saint-Germain are keeping an eye on the issue.

After beating Leicester on Sunday, the Gunners are on track to finish in the UEFA Champions League places, after their fifth consecutive victory.

During his two years at Emirates so far, Arteta has won the FA Cup and the Community Shield, and his contract will expire next year. Despite interest from French giants Paris Saint-Germain, it is likely that the Spaniard will commit to the club.

Arsenal are expected to offer the Spaniard a fresh contract at the end of the current season, while Mauricio Pochettino is poised to depart PSG in the summer, with Arteta being one of the candidates on the managerial shortlist of the French side.

Before joining PSG in 1999, Arteta began his career at Barcelona, where he failed to earn a single first-team appearance. He is thought to be excited by the prospect of ‘one day’ managing Barcelona, but he is completely focused on completing his goals with Arsenal, who are on track to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in five years.

Arteta recently travelled to Denver, Colorado, to see a National League hockey game with Arsenal owner, Stan Kroenke. Arsenal’s January transfer window strategy was discussed, as well as future plans for the summer, with Arteta hoping to bring in at least three new players to enhance the Gunners team.

Arteta is widely regarded as one of the top coaches in the world, with many in the Premier League and beyond believing that he will use his tactical understanding garnered while working alongside Pep Guardiola at Manchester City to become one of the best managers in the world.

He has a keen eye for detail, and the Arsenal squad he is assembled has the ideal mix of senior and junior coaches, with a strong emphasis on using video analysis to help players progress.

This season, he has transformed the Premier League’s youngest group into a side capable of playing flowing, attractive football, and he has demonstrated that he has no patience for players who oppose his vision as Matteo Guendouzi and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang found out.

Arsenal face Liverpool in the Premier League on Wednesday night before taking on Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners leapfrogged Manchester United last weekend and are in pole position to take fourth place in the UCL slots, with games in hand on all other contenders.
