Netflix Offers Scholarship To Film, TV Students In West, Central Africa

August 23, (THEWILL) – Netflix has invited film and television students in West and Central Africa for its Creative Equity Scholarship Fund (CESF). The streaming giant announced the scholarship in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the statement, selected applicants will have the opportunity to study at institutions in Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, and Gabon, among others.

Netflix said the CESF, launched in 2021, will be distributed to various initiatives over the next five years with the goal of building a strong, diverse pipeline of creatives around the world.

The streaming giant said the $1 million scholarship fund is aimed at helping ambitious creatives from West and Central African countries to obtain official qualifications and training.

The statement also said the scholarship fund will cover beneficiaries’ tuition, housing, study materials, and living expenses at selected partner schools in the 2022 academic year.

To qualify for the scholarship, Netflix said applicants must be citizens of West and Central African and must be living in their countries.

It added that they must have also been admitted to study film & TV-related disciplines at one of its partner institutions.

Netflix said its partner institutions include: Institut Philippe Maury de l’audiovisuel et du Cinéma (IPMAC-Groupe EM GABON-UNIVERSITE), Gabon; Institut Supérieur des Métiers de l’Audiovisuel (ISMA), Bénin; National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), Ghana; National Film Institute (NFI) Jos, Nigeria; and Pan-Atlantic University, Nigeria.

Applications for the scholarship will close on September 4.
