Neimeth Starts Construction Of N5bn Pharmaceuticals Complex In Anambra

Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc has officially kicked off the construction of its N5billion new WHO/cGMP complaint Pharma Complex situated in Anambra State.

Peter Obi, the immediate past Governor of Anambra State laid the foundation stone of the new complex situated in Amawbia, Anambra State.

The Pharm Complex situated on an area, covering 2.56 hectres of land, when commissioned is expected to produce Ciklavit, Sterile injectable products so as to encourage local manufacture and reduce Nigerians reliance on imported products. Neimeth, International Pharmaceuticals Plc manufactures over one hundred types of pharmaceutical and veterinary products which carefully target various diseases burden that affect Nigerians.

These include Analgesics, Antidiabetics, Antifungal, antiseptics, blood tonic and over 12 formulations of veterinary products.

Pharm Emmanuel Ekunno, MD/CEO, said that Neimeth through her virile R&D unit formulated a special anti-hypertensive for blacks with enormous clinical benefits for men with prostrate conditions. Also Nimartem, (a.ka. Neimeth malaria terminator), an antimalaria from her R&D efforts is unique in that, unlike other ACTs that are imported, Nimartem is made locally thereby helping to create jobs and reduce capital flight.

Earlier in his remark, A.B.C Orjiako, chairman of the Board of Director of Neimeth who was represented by Maurice Iwu, former chairman INEC, who is also a board member of Neimeth stated that the ceremony marks the commencement of the development of industrial pharmaceuticals manufacturing in the State as well as constituting the first practical step of breaking the backbone of healthcare delivery in Anambra State and the country at large.

Iwu stated that the manufacturing facility will cost about N5-6 billion and when completed will generate jobs for about 300 skilled labour, over 1000 support staff and other service personnel.

Iwu, on behalf of the Board of Directors of Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc, expressed the company’s gratitude to Peter Obi, and looked forward to continuing to be a great ambassador to industries even when he has completed his tour of duty as the Governor of the State.
