Ndidi, Iheanacho On Losing Side As Man City Beat Leicester 1-0

September 11, (THEWILL) – Leicester’s Nigerian duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi could not save their team from a lone goal loss to Manchester City.

While Iheanacho began on the bench, Ndidi’s first-half display included a shot on target. In an early first-half chance, Leicester’s Harvey Barnes fired from close range but Ederson Moraes was equal to the task. Ndidi hit the follow-up goalwards only to have Walker block his effort and deny Leicester the lead.

However, the cagey first half saw City create the better chances as they came closest to opening the scoring after that Ndidi attempt. However, the reflexes of Kasper Schmeichel ensured they went into the break goalless.

City started the second half on the front foot and sent waves of attack at the Leicester goal. Gabriel Jesus, Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish failed to find the breakthrough, as the hosts defended in numbers.

The pressure finally told i the 62nd minute when Bernardo Silva produced the goods for the visitors with an opportunistic strike. Grealish made a sublime pass to Rodri, whose powerful low strike was saved by Schmeichel only for the rebound to fall kindly for Silva, who he scored from close range.

Iheanacho was introduced into the fray in the 73rd minute for James Maddison and he and his fellow substitute Ademola Lookman went close for Leicester late on, but Ederson was alert to make the saves and deny them.

Pep Guardiola’s City held on to the slim lead to make it three consecutive wins.
