BEVERLY HILLS, January 24, (THEWILL) – Controversial Nigerian singer, Naira Marley, has frowned at the arrest of some schoolboys by operatives of the Oyo state chapter of the Southwest Security Network, Amotekun, for allegedly identifying themselves as Marlians.
A video, which has since gone viral emerged online on Saturday wherein some secondary school students were being forced into an Amotekun van.
In the video, which sparked social media reactions, the voice of a woman, presumed to be that of their teacher, could be heard from the background calling the arrested students as “criminals” and “bad influence on others”.
“These ones are criminals in the school. The senior one is calling himself Naira Marley. Bad influence on others. They were all taken from the bush. They are being taken away by Amotekun. This will restore sanity in the school,” she said.
Reacting, Naira Marley took to his Instgaram account to fault the arrest and describing it as “child abuse” . He also disclosed his interest to meet the students.
“How can you arrest school kids? This is child abuse. The teachers and this stupid uncles with guns need to be arrested,” he wrote.
“I want to meet all these kids I owe them please help me with the name of the school or link me up with any of my Marlian kids. Thanks. I wanna see the witch behind the camera self. What the f**k is Amotekun sef??
“If they treat your child like this, what would you do? Did you see the slap?? You calling someone’s child criminal?? Omoo I’m so angry give me the school’s name please. I need to go there.”
