According to him, one of the students was withdrawn from the course due to ill health, while six others were withdrawn for poor academic performance during the conduct of the courses.

He pointed out that the Advanced Intelligence Course was aimed at producing intelligence operatives meant to function as Desk Sergeants in the units intelligence cells.

“At the end of the course, it was expected that the graduands would be able to set up an intelligence cell in all types of operations and carry out intelligence analysis. The Basic Intelligence Course is designed for new entrants into the intelligence specialty.

“It is aimed at furnishing personnel with the rudiments of intelligence gathering, security duties and discipline in achieving tasks assigned to them.

“These courses were intended to equip the students with capacity for newer techniques in safeguarding NAF interest in line with emerging trends in the intelligence statecraft”, he said.

He disclosed that due to the prevailing menace of drug abuse in the service, the students partook in a series of lectures organised by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to enlighten them on the dangers of drug abuse.

In his remarks, the Air Officer Commanding Air Training Command, AVM Kenneth Kumzhi, said the various courses would enable the graduands to know the role of NAF and its concept of operations was predicated on the provision of timely, adequate and accurate intelligence on the adversary’s intentions and capabilities.

He emphasised that the course enabled the operation staff to prepare for timely and adequate response to any threat as it places a lot of responsibility on the graduating students whose primary responsibility is to safeguard NAF documents, gather, collate and accurately analyse intelligence reports in support of NAF operations.

Represented by the Chief of Staff, AVM E.O Eboiwe, Kumzhi, said that the graduands were expected to operate professionally to reflect the level of experience, knowledge and skills that they acquired.

The Deputy Commandant, Group Captain, A.O Akins,
appreciated the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao, for his support, leadership role, commitment and confidence he had in them to train the personnel, assuring that the graduands would meet the expected demand and requirements.
