May 23, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has pulled out 28 Air Vice Marshals (AVMs) and Air Commodores, comprising members of Courses 35 and 36 from active service.

Those pulled out in the colourful ceremony at the NAF Base, Kano, are AVM CT Dii (Rtd) and 27 of his colleagues who have retired from active service in the last one and a half years after 35 years of meritorious service.

The review officer, AVM Dii (rtd), in a valedictory speech expressed gratitude to God for witnessing the epic day.

He called on airmen and women of the service to uphold their good legacies and continue to build on the modest achievements of the retiring officers, to overcome security challenges bedevilling the nation.

“I am honoured to be part of this colourful pulling out ceremony today. Let me on behalf of all my colleagues with whom I have weathered the storm for 3 decades express our sincere gratitude to Almighty God for the rare privilege of witnessing this epic event.

“I am awashed with the memories of our days at the Nigerian Defence Academy, where our journey into the service began. We served together and collectively contributed to the success of the Nigerian Airforce and Nigeria as a nation”, he said.

AVM Dii explained that each day in the Nigeria Airforce was indeed a step towards achieving something new, adding that there were tough and trying moments.

He said such moments contributed in transforming them to be better equipped to surmount the challenges of each responsibility bestowed “on our shoulders during our days in service.”

Dii said, “ As we bow out of service, we want to appreciate all the support and assistance we got from you all throughout our service life.

“We also appreciate the past and present leadership of the country for the opportunity and support given to us. I would like to wholeheartedly thank the chief of the air staff, for his magnanimity in organising this memorable event to honour us. We are glad that the Nigerian Airforce under the leadership of Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, still considered us worthy of honour.”
