My Brother Didn’t Insult Sanwo-Olu At My Birthday, Says Yeni Kuti

BEVERLY HILLS, May 25, (THEWILL) – Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti, the oldest child of Afro-Beat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, has refuted claims that her younger brother, Seun, insulted Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at her 60th birthday on Monday.

Yeni, who is also a co-host of “The View,” the morning talk show on TVC, Lagos, disclosed this on Twitter after a trending video showed Seun, apparently angrily, walking away from the Governor’s direction.

According to Twitter reports, Seun showed the Governor the “middle finger” in the presence of his siblings.

While some commended him for speaking truth to power in reference to Sanwo-Olu’s perceived role in the October 20, 2020 killings of peaceful #EndSARS protesters at Lekki Tollgate, some felt Seun had behaved indecorously towards an older man who happened to be the Governor.

Some said the musician cum social activist lacked home training.

Yeni, however, tweeted: “What happened was that the security detail in the course of doing their duty pushed his wife. He got upset at them understandably, not the Governor. He even explained to the Governor. I beg o! He has home training.”
