SAN FRANCISCO, June 22, (THEWILL) – Former Nigerian International and ex-Real Betis star, Mutiu Adepoju has stated that one of the biggest moments of his life as a footballer was Nigeria’s World Cup debut against Bulgaria, where he scored one of the three goals that saw the Super Eagles triumph by 3-0 against the Hristo Stoichkov captained Bulgarian team.
The former midfielder took to Twitter Monday, the 26th anniversary of that clash to reminisce.
“On this day 26 years ago, I made history with Nigeria to feature in the country’s maiden World Cup game.

“The icing on the cake was a 3-0 victory over Bulgaria. This is no doubt one of the biggest highlights of my career as a footballer and I will never forget this day.”
