SAN FRANCISCO, September 30, (THEWILL) – Organisers of the Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) reality TV show have disclosed that the housemates gathered over 900 million votes from fans in the ended season 5 edition.
Chief executive officer, MultiChoice Nigeria, John Ugbe, stated this on Wednesday during the award-presentation ceremony.
“I know you must be very curious about the voting statistics for this season. I can tell you that this season’s voting record has shattered previous ones. This season recorded over 900 million votes. We’ll provide the details later,” he said.
He also disclosed that over 30,000 persons applied for this year’s edition but only 20 housemates were selected.
Ugbe said that despite the coronavirus pandemic which earlier posed a threat to the show initially; it became a success due to the commitment of individuals involved.
He also pointed out that BBNaija has maintained its role in contributing to the socio-economic development of the country, saying that it has provided over 10,000 jobs for Nigerians.

He applauded the winner, Olamilekan ‘Laycon’ Agbeleshe, and the other housemates for their remarkable time in the Big Brother House.
