Milan Get Serie A Title Defence Underway With 4-2 Win Over Udinese

August 13, (THEWILL) – Milan came back from a second minute setback to defeat Udinese 4-2 at San Siro on Saturday, as they began the race to retain their Serie A title.

The Rossoneri won their inaugural match of the Italian top division thanks to a penalty from Theo Hernandez, two goals from Ante Rebic, and a third goal from Brahim Diaz, despite giving up two goals to the visitors netted by Rodrigo Becao, with the early goal, and Adam Masina.

Stefano Pioli named Charles de Ketelaere and Divock Origi, who recently moved to Milan, to the bench. The former was introduced for the final 20 minutes and the latter for the final seven in front of their new supporters.

Andrea Sottil, the new head coach of Udinese, suffered his first defeat, but he would have been encouraged by his team’s ability to keep Milan on its toes in a match that was more open in the first half than Pioli would have preferred.

Next weekend, Milan will travel to Atalanta for their next Serie A match while Udinese’s next game is at home against Salernitana.
