January 02, (THEWILL) – According to Paris Saint-Germain, Lionel Messi has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Ligue 1 club posted a medical report on their website before their Coupe de France Round of 32 clash with fourth-tier side Vannes, stating that Messi and three players have tested positive for the disease.
“They are currently in isolation and are subject to the appropriate health protocol,” the post added.
Based on the required days of isolation after positive tests, Messi and his colleagues are expected to also miss PSG’s Ligue 1 match against Lyon next weekend.
PSG included an update on Neymar’s ankle injury, which the Brazilian sustained in November during a 3-1 win over Saint Etienne, as THEWILL reported.
“Neymar Jr will continue his treatment in Brazil until 9 January with members of the Paris Saint-Germain medical and performance staff. His return to training is still expected to be in about 3 weeks.”
