BEVERLY HILLS, March 04, (THEWILL) – Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan, has accused Buckingham Palace of “perpetuating falsehoods” about her and her spouse, adding that the royal couple would not keep silent in telling their story.

Meghan, who is the Duchess of Sussex, disclosed this during an interview with Oprah Winfrey as she talked about why the royal couple quit their royal roles that is scheduled to be broadcast on television on Sunday.

An advance excerpt of the interview was issued on Wednesday, hours after Buckingham Palace said it was “very concerned” about reports in the Times newspaper that assistants working for Meghan two years back had been bullied by her.

Harry and Meghan had issued a statement denying that she had never bullied anyone.

“How do you feel about the Palace hearing you speak your truth today?” Winfrey asks Meghan in the excerpt.

Meghan replied: “I don’t know how they could expect that after all of this time we would still just be silent, if there is an active role that The Firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us.” The Firm is the name that the British royal family sometimes uses to describe itself.

“And if that comes with risk of losing things, I mean, there’s a lot that’s been lost already.”

The interview was recorded before The Times newspaper did a report about unnamed sources as saying an aide to Harry and Meghan had complained in October 2018 alleging that Meghan had reduced some of her assistants to tears and made others quit after she treated them so badly.

According to the paper, Harry had urged the aide, who is no longer a staff and the complaint was dropped.

The newspaper had contacted former staff members who wanted the public to know about the issue before the Winfrey interview was aired and the lawyers for the couple had labelled the allegations a smear to discredit the Palace.

“We are clearly very concerned about allegations in The Times following claims made by former staff of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

The Royal Household “does not and will not tolerate bullying or harassment in the workplace”, it added.

According to the palace, its HR team will look into the allegations and that members of staff involved at the time would be invited.

A spokeswoman for Meghan had earlier stated that she was “saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself and is deeply committed to supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma”.
