BEVERLY HILLS, December 01, (THEWILL) – In sensational boxing news, former British cruiserweight champion Glenn McCrory has claimed he and ex-American boxer Evander Holyfield have agreed terms on a bare-knuckle boxing bout.

McCrory, IBF world title holder from 1989 to 1990, went to Twitter with a poster of himself and Holyfield and branded with a Bare Knuckle Boxing trademark. The poster carried the headline “Legends Return” with contrasting pictures of the boxers in action in their prime and as they look today, giving the claim some level of legitimacy.

McCrory, after posting his own tagline which read “Now or Never”, displayed keen awareness of sceptics of the veracity of his claim and to them and those who question if the bout will ever happen, the 56-year-old replied, “100 per cent”.

For now, Holyfield has remained reticent. He is yet to make a post of his own, or acknowledge an agreement with McCrory.

However, the 58-year-old, has long documented his attempts to get back into the ring. As a sign of his seriousness, he teamed up with the likes of Wladimir Klitschko in a bid to regain shape and stamina. A regular on social media, the boxing legend has kept his followers updated on his return to fitness, even once teasing a possible rematch against arch-rival Mike Tyson.

It was Tyson, however, who successfully made his long-anticipated return to the ring on Saturday night, in an exhibition bout in Los Angeles, which he drew with another returnee legend Roy Jones Jr.

Iron Mike’s performance in the eight-round exhibition has been widely praised that claims are making the rounds that Tyson could make a shock return to the realms of actual title bouts.

None other than George Foreman, who himself became boxing’s oldest heavyweight champion when he was 45, said of Tyson: “If he gets in shape like he’s in now, gets his timing back, and all the other things fall into place, he can have an opportunity to fight for the title.”

“If he can be managed right, the right champion will come to him. And if the right one comes, he can knock him out.”
