May 22, (THEWILL) – Fresh off his new mouthwatering contract, Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick in a 5-0 thumping of 10-man Metz to mark the start of his new Paris Saint-Germain deal.
As THEWILL reported on Saturday, the France international ended months of uncertainty about his future by signing a new contract with the Ligue 1 winners until 2025, after being heavily linked to a finalised move to La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Mbappe honoured the occasion with a treble against Metz, who were relegated at Parc des Princes in a fixture where Boubacar Traore was sent off in the second half.
Neymar scored next before Angel di Maria, who was given a standing ovation when he was substituted in his penultimate outing for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, entered his name in the scoresheet. The Argentine is expected to move to Juventus next season.
It was the tenth time that Metz were suffering relegation and, together with Strasbourg, now hold the record as the most frequently relegated club in Ligue 1 history. On the other hand, Mbappe became the third player to finish top scorer in Ligue 1 for four straight seasons after Carlos Bianchi (four seasons with Reims and Paris) and Jean-Pierre Papin (five seasons with Marseille).
