Mbappe, Casemiro, Kroos Likely To Miss Real, PSG UCL Reverse Fixture

Kylian Mbappe

March 07, (THEWILL) –┬áKylian Mbappe will be evaluated by a doctor after injuring himself in training ahead of Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League match against Real Madrid.

PSG are seeking to eliminate Carlo Ancelotti’s team on Wednesday to advance to the quarter-finals, with a thin 1-0 lead from the opening encounter.

However, their preparations have been hampered by the news that Mbappe got a knock in training and will now need to consult the club’s medical team. The Frenchman was absent from PSG’s 1-0 defeat to Nice over the weekend.

The World Cup winner was dealt a similar blow in last season’s Champions League, when he suffered a calf injury and was forced to sit out the second leg of PSG’s semi-final against Manchester City.

The news that Mbappe could be uncertain to play a team he is generally anticipated to join in the summer is a stinging blow for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who were excellent in the first leg, winning courtesy to Mbappe’s 93rd-minute score.

Sergio Ramos and Ander Herrera both skipped team training on Monday and are also unlikely to feature, although Achraf Hakimi and Leandro Paredes trained with the squad.

On the other team, Ferland Mendy and Casemiro have both been suspended for Real, while Toni Kroos is out with an injury. As a result, a somewhat inexperienced midfield trio of Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, and Luka Modric could be used, with Marcelo set to fill in at left back.
