Manchester City will find out on Thursday the extent of Pablo Zabaleta’s knee injury.
The 30-year-old right-back was taken off on a stretcher after 56 minutes during the 5-1 thrashing of Crystal Palace in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday.
Zabaleta only returned from knee ligament damage at the end of September and the club are concerned he has injured the same joint.
oss Manuel Pellegrini said: “He is coming back from a ligament injury and it’s the same knee. We need to wait until tomorrow [Thursday] to see the extent.”
City will play Championship side Hull in the quarter-finals after goals from Wilfried Bony, Kevin De Bruyne, Kelechi Iheanacho, Yaya Toure and Manu Garcia sealed a comprehensive victory at the Etihad.
Zabaleta has made five appearances since recovering from his knee injury to play in the 2-1 win at Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League on September 30.
City host Norwich on Saturday in the Premier League before a trip to Sevilla in the Champions League next Wednesday and then an away clash at Aston Villa on November 8.
