Man Utd Fans Prepare For Weekend Anti-Glazers Protest Ahead Of Norwich Fixture

April 11, (THEWILL) – A fresh protest against Manchester United’s owners, the Glazer family, is planned for Saturday’s match versus Norwich at Old Trafford by a group of the club’s fans.

Supporters of the Red Devils have grown increasingly frustrated with the team’s owners, who bought the club in 2005 and immediately sank it into debt. The team’s poor performance on the field has also been used against the Glazers.

Last year, demonstrations erupted at Old Trafford as a fallout of the decision of Europe’s leading football clubs to launch the European Super League.

As THEWILL reported, last May, Liverpool’s trip to United was cancelled due to chaotic circumstances in which fans poured into the stadium during a time when no fans were permitted due to COVID-19 restrictions.

This time around, the 1958 group has stated that the planned protests will not be like those. Saturday’s event’s organisers stated: “This isn’t another Liverpool – we believe this was a one-off unique event.

“This is the start of constant, relentless, legal and peaceful protests and actions against our owners. We know the challenges ahead of us and we will not waver or detract from these goals. Bring your colours, banners, flags and flares.

“We need you – we need each other, we need everyone to put aside their differences. Some things are worth fighting for.”

Supporters are expected to gather at 11 am at the Tollgate hostelry in Stretford before marching to Old Trafford at 2 pm. Attendees will not be allowed into Old Trafford until 3:17 , with each minute reflecting a year of the Glazers’ disastrous reign. The planned demonstration has been made known to United.

On the football front, the latest information from Old Trafford is that Erik ten Hag is close to agreeing to terms to take over as United’s new manager.
