Man Utd Deny Claims They Want To Terminate Ronaldo’s Contract

August 14, (THEWILL) – Claims that Manchester United wants Cristiano Ronaldo to improve his attitude or risk having his contract terminated have been refuted by the club.

In a video recorded after his team’s humbling 4-0 loss to Brentford on Saturday, the Portuguese was seen reacting angrily before storming off the field without exchanging pleasantries with manager, Erik ten Hag.

The club quickly refuted rumours from some media channels that the 37-year-old would be shown the exit door at Old Trafford if his attitude does not change in the coming weeks. Ronaldo’s current contract with United runs until next summer and United has the option of extending it by an additional year.

Ronaldo began on the bench for United’s 2-1 loss to Brighton at home on the opening weekend prior to the Brentford game, coming on to replace Fred in the 52nd minute. The attacker was understandably angry with the loss to Brentford, as United conceded four times in the first 35 minutes.

The Portuguese forward scored six goals in as many Champions League games for Manchester United last season, scoring 24 goals in 38 appearances before his team was eliminated by Atletico Madrid in the round of 16. He has also been shortlisted for the year’s Ballon d’Or even if his desire to leave Old Trafford remains a pipe dream.
