BEVERLY HILLS, May 09, (THEWILL) – English Premier League second-placed Manchester United had all the more reason to hand a contract extension to Uruguayan veteran Edinson Cavani as he was on the scoresheet with their midfield commando Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood as they helped to power the team’s successful comeback against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday.

Greenwood has been in such a good vein of form for United, with this his fifth goal in as many Premier League matches. His previous five strikes in the competition came across 29 games.

In total, the young man now has 16 Premier League goals for United. It is a new record as he now has the most goals of any teenager for the Red Devils, beating the 15 managed by club icon Wayne Rooney.

United started the game brightly but Aston Villa took the lead after Fred’s poor pass gifted possession to the hosts. Bertrand Traore scored a superb goal to give Villa the lead.

It took some pep half time talk before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side began on the path to victory. It began with a penalty seven minutes after the restart. Douglas Luiz was penalised for bringing down Paul Pogba and penalty specialist Bruno Fernandes sent Emiliano Martinez the wrong way to level the scores.

United took the lead a few minutes later all with the individual brilliance of Greenwood, turning Tyrone Mings inside the penalty area before he clinically placing his effort into the bottom corner intelligently.

It was left to Cavani to make it three with a header in the final few minutes as he continues on his goal-scoring form of late. Ollie Watkins was shown his second yellow card late on for a dive to cap a disappointing day for Villa.

Their victory means, once again, the league leaders, City will have to wait before they can celebrate their premier League title victory. The champagne will remain on ice for another week, at least.
