SAN FRANCISCO, September 21, (THEWILL) – After a new round of testing, Manchester City midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan, has tested positive for coronavirus.
The club disclosed this in a statement on Monday posted on its website.
“Manchester City FC can confirm that Ilkay Gundogan has tested positive for COVID-19.
“Ilkay is now observing a 10-day period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine.
“Everyone at the Club wishes Ilkay a speedy recovery.”
The midfielder will now miss City’s opener against Wolves on Monday as well as the Carabao Cup with Bournemouth on Thursday and the match against Leicester City on Sunday.
