June 07, (THEWILL) – English Premier League champions, Manchester City, have denied rumours that they are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder, Bukayo Saka.
Saka has established himself as one of the most fascinating young stars in the EPL, after another successful season at the Emirates. He is also a regular in Gareth Southgate’s England side, and he will likely play in the World Cup at the end of the year.
Arsenal are attempting to ensure Saka’s future at the club with the budding star in the final two years of his contract in North London. If terms cannot be agreed this summer, the Gunners will be forced to accept a bargain price next summer rather than risk losing him on a free transfer.
The 20-year-old is the type of player City would like to add to their roster, and they have used contract situations in the past to gain better deals for players. Yet, despite rumours to the contrary, insiders at the Etihad have stated that the forward is not in their plans for this or subsequent transfer windows.
City have already signed Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez for next season, with the goal of rejuvenating their attack for years to come with young talent, and are also looking for a midfielder this summer. On top of that, the chairman has promised at least one more addition, with left-back understood to be a priority.
