Magu Refers To Ekiti Senator As ‘Fayose’ During Confirmation Hearing

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu

BEVERLY HILLS, March 15, (THEWILL)- Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu sparked laughter at the Senate on Wednesday when he mistakenly called a lawmaker from Ekiti State, Governor Ayo Fayose.

He committed this blunder during his confirmation hearing while responding to a question posed by the Senator representing Ekiti north, Duro Faseyi.

Faseyi had asked Magu to give a detailed account of the money recovered by the EFCC.

“How much has been recovered, including dollars, since you took charge of the commission?” the lawmaker asked.

Magu responded by saying he could not give a specific figure as “it is difficult to give report on how much has been recovered from fight against corruption”.

He also admitted that the commission is not perfect, but said the agency will always strive to do its best.

“We do not claim to have a monopoly of knowledge in the fight against corruption.

“There is corruption everywhere, even in the EFCC, but we are doing our best to check it,” the anti-corruption czar said
