September 17, (THEWILL) – Precious Chikwendu, estranged wife of Femi Fani-Kayode, had choice words for the former aviation minister after he joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Chikwendu took to her Instastory on Friday to describe the act as shameless, adding that a good name is worth more than money.
Writing in Igbo and English language, she said: “My father always told me, ‘Chi nwam, ezigbo afa ka ego.’ A good name is better than riches. Truly, it is. Ifele adighi eme onye ori. Obu umu nna ya ka o na me.”
The first part of her statement is an Igbo proverb that literally means “a good name is better than money”. The second part means “looters are shameless,” adding that “it is their relatives that feel the shame of their actions”.
Fani-Kayode had in 2016 said he would never join the APC. A stance he reiterated in 2019, added that he would rather die.
Fani-Kayode and Chikwendu’s marriage ended in 2020 over allegations of domestic violence and infidelity both parties levelled at each other.
