July 22, (THEWILL) – The Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lobi Stars football club, Makurdi, Mr Dominic Iorfa, has lauded governor Samuel Ortom for standing by the club that led it out of relegation in the just concluded league season.

Mr Iorfa, who made the disclosure in Makurdi at a news conference to mark the end of the 2021/2022 soccer season, noted that “the pride of Benue people is finally rescued from relegation.

“At a point in the course of this assignment, we had a lot of hitches and tribulations from those who didn’t want the club to succeed. They resorted to blackmail, media attacks, gossip, causing divisions amongst the team and the height of it all was inciting people against us with old debts, court actions to the extent of the seizure of our club vehicles to stop us from honouring our matches.”

Denying allegations of shortchanging players, Iorfa disclosed that all the genuine players of the club have been paid their allowances and challenged anyone of them with a genuine complaint to make it public, assuring that the team will be overhauled for optimal performance.

Mr Iorfa, who listed himself and Idoko, as the only persons with administrative acumen to sustain Lobi Stars football club in the Nigerian league, noted that Coach Godwin Uwua also possessed the same qualities, but in the coaching division.

“Going forward, I want to assure you that the team will be restructured, overhauled and transformed for optimal performance in the next season with quality players and officials including adhering to this FIFA, CAF, NFF and LMC licencing requirements, to raise the status with aim of finishing in the top three that will qualify us for a Continental ticket come next season 2022/2023.”
