Lobi Stars, Abia Warriors, Rangers, Four Other Clubs Fail To Meet Facilities Standards

October 13, (THEWILL) – The home stadium facilities of seven Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs submitted for evaluation were not in good enough condition to host matches during the 2022/2023 season by facility inspectors.

The seven clubs, which include Lobi Stars, Abia Warriors, Rangers, Wikki Tourists, Niger Tornadoes, Sunshine Stars, and El-kanemi Warriors, have also been informed that their facilities did not meet the Club Licensing requirements.

Clubs like Lobi Stars, Abia Warriors, and Niger Tornadoes were far off the standards and the inspectors stated, in separate reports, that they will require urgent and lengthy makeover work to achieve the very bare requirements for approval.

However, Plateau United and Gombe United are yet to submit to the facility inspections and have not given any explanations for why they have not done so yet.

As THEWILL previously reported, an Interim Management Committee (IMC), is expected to oversee organisation of the NPFL for this season until a new League Management body is appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation after the Ministry of Sports enforced a court ruling that said the former League Management Company (LMC), which had the league’s operating licence, was ineligible to do so.
