September 30, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich remains unbeaten in Champions League Group E with a resounding 5-0 victory over Dynamo Kiev at the Allianz Arena on matchday two of the UEFA Champions League Group E fixture, thanks to two goals from the ever-impressive Pole, Robert Lewandowski.

After ending a run of 19 games with at least one goal in a 3-1 win over Furth on Saturday, the Poland international was back on the scoresheet after only 12 minutes, coolly converted from the penalty spot to set the tone for a comfortable night for the hosts.

With less than half an hour on the clock, Bayern were up 2-0 when Lewandowski extended their lead with a clinical finish after receiving a wonderful through-ball from Thomas Muller.

As Julian Nagelsmann’s team pushed for a third goal before the break, Leroy Sane hit the post, but Manuel Neuer had to be quick to keep out Carlos De Pena’s cushioned effort at the other end.

The second half was largely one-way traffic as well, and Bayern’s dominance was rewarded when Serge Gnabry secured the points with a slick finish in the 68th minute, assisted by Sane.

Sanè scored the goal his play deserved a few minutes later, although in a pretty fortuitous manner. He found the back of the net after catching goalie Heorhiy Buschan off guard, putting the finishing touches on another excellent team performance.

With three minutes remaining, replacement Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored his fourth Champions League goal in as many games.

The Bavarians, who have six points from their first two games, put on another vicious performance. Barcelona suffered a second consecutive 3-0 defeat, this time against Benfica, in stark contrast to their presumed group opponents.

Nagelsmann did not waste any time in putting all of his heavy hitters on the field right away, and it did not take long for their quality to show. In the Bundesliga, Lewandowski had a rare day off over the weekend, but he was never going to play back-to-back games without regaining his shooting boots.

The 33-year-old has 25 goals in just 18 Champions League outings, and you have to question if he would have scored more if he had stayed fit at the conclusion of last season.

The Bavarian giants have now scored in each of their past 81 games and has had the ball in the opposition net 46 times this season alone.
