BEVERLY HILLS, November 3, (THEWILL) – The Managing Director of the Lekki Concession Company, LCC, the facility managers of the Lekki Toll Gate, Abayomi Omomuwa, Tuesday told the Judicial Panel of Inquiry investigating the cases of police brutality in the state, that surveillance cameras stopped recording at the toll gate at 8pm on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, the night policemen and soldiers shot at defiant unarmed #ENDSARS protesters.
The public had anticipated that the cameras would shed light on the incident following claims and counter claims by the state and protesters over the incident. At least three persons died from the incident while more than 50 were wounded.
Omomuwa submitted the footages for the day to the panel in a hard drive. “I can confirm that inside here is the video footage that our surveillance camera was able to record for the 20th of October.
On why the cameras had issues on that night, he said: “The major cause is because of network.
“I can confirm categorically we never, ever, tampered with the surveillance camera. That is why we can get the footage.
“It remained there until about 8pm when it was tampered with and we couldn’t get anything.”
