Late Ramsdale’s Save Ensures Arsenal Goalless Draw At Brighton

October 03, (THEWILL) -On a rainy Saturday evening, a wasteful Brighton were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Arsenal in their matchday seven fixture of the English Premier League.

The hosts overwhelmed a poor Arsenal team at a drenched American Express Community Stadium. Brighton worked their way through the purportedly in-form visitors in the first half, with Leandro Trossard dropping centrally to outnumber Arsenal’s double pivot.

Brighton’s best chances came from set pieces, as has been the case so far this season. After 20 minutes, Neal Maupay whipped in a cross from a half-cleared corner that Aaron Ramsdale (maybe reasonably) spilled to Lewis Dunk’s foot, who (less forgivingly) blazed over from six yards out.

From another corner, the 6’7″ Dan Burn went unnoticed in Arsenal’s penalty area, giving him plenty of room to head a header over the bar from close range.

In the midst of Brighton’s wind, rain, and pressure, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang grazed the outside of the post with a chance, wedged between Bukayo Saka’s efforts.

Arsenal’s passing game was hindered by Brighton’s proactive approach, which created opportunities for them. Brighton, on the other hand, reverted to their wasteful form from previous season, failing to convert any of their countless chances until the 80th minute.

As the game progressed, Arsenal showed signs of improvement, but they failed to even produce the type of chances that Brighton were squandering.

It left the Gunners in 9th on the table while Brighton finished the weekend before the international break in 5th ahead of City, in sixth, before Sunday’s match between Liverpool and the defending champions.
