BEVERLY HILLS, May 16, (THEWILL) – Melissa Rivers, daughter of late TV personality and comedian Joan Rivers has reached a settlement in the wrongful death lawsuit she filed against Yorkville Endoscopy, the Manhattan clinic where Joan died in September 2014 after going into cardiac arrest during a routine procedure.

Melissa she sued to ensure that nobody else will ever experience what happened to her mother and though the amount of the settlement has not been disclosed, but it’s reportedly in the tens of millions of dollars range.

“Moving forward, my focus will be to ensure that no one ever has to go through what my mother, Cooper and I went through and I will work towards ensuring higher safety standards in out-patient surgical clinics. I want to express my personal gratitude to my legal team for their wise counsel and prompt resolution of this case.”

Among the issues that related to the clinic’s alleged mishandling of Rivers’ medical emergency, according to the lawsuit, was the failure to perform a tracheotomy and a 12-minute delay in calling 911. Additionally, one of the doctors working on Rivers Dr. Gwen Korovin, Rivers’ personal ear, nose and throat doctor wasn’t authorized to be in the surgery room, while another snapped photos of her lying on the operating table.

A spokesperson for Yorkville Endoscopy also told ABC News: “Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to the Rivers family. Today, the parties agreed to settle this case to avoid protracted litigation. We remain committed to providing quality, compassionate healthcare services that meet the needs of our patients, their families and the community.”
