Lakers’ Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard In Hot Exchange During Loss To Phoenix

October 23, (THEWILL) – During a timeout in the first half of the Los Angeles Lakers’ 115-105 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Friday, the Lakers’ Centers Anthony Davis and Dwight Howard had to be separated on the bench.

Howard was sitting when Davis approached him during the first half’s timeout. Davis grabbed Howard’s left arm as he stood up, and fellow teammates quickly separated the two as Davis continued to point toward Howard.

“We’re good. We squashed it,” Howard said after the game. “He’s my brother.”

Davis confirmed this too in post-match remarks when he said: “We left it in the locker room at halftime.”

Howard and Davis had a disagreement on a defensive coverage, according to Lakers coach Frank Vogel, but the physical aspect was “too much,” so he handled it behind closed doors. Vogel explained it saying: “That’s going to happen from time to time. Those guys love each other. I’d rather our guys care than not care.”

Davis had 22 points and 14 rebounds despite shooting only 6-of-18 from the field. For the Lakers, who have lost their first two games to start the season, Howard played nine minutes off the bench. The Lakers are 0-2 for the first time in franchise history, with both losses coming at home.

It so happened during the game that a courtside fan had to be ejected after making contact with Lakers guard Rajon Rondo in the second half. On the broadcast, the fan was seen slapping Rondo’s hand away from his face.

“The fan slapped Rondo’s hand,” Vogel said. “That has nothing to do with our composure.”
