BEVERLY HILLS, February 06, (THEWILL) – The Lagos State Judicial Panel of Enquiry and Restitution for Victims of SARS related abuses and other matters has returned control of the Lekki Toll Gate plaza to the Lekki Concession Company (LCC), amidst a disruptive shouting match between those who disproved of the decision and those who supported it
The nine-man panel returned the control of the tollgate to the Lekki Concession Company, the operators, on Saturday, February 6, during the panel sitting in Lagos.
LCC had earlier prayed the panel to allow it to take over the plaza for repair and insurance claims since December 2020.
It is the 4th time the LCC is making the application.
During the proceedings on Saturday, the Chairman of the panel, Justice Doris Okuwobi, gave a ruling allowing the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) Ltd to repossess the toll gate.
Justice Okuwobi sitting with four other members of the panel listened to arguments for and against the application made by counsel to the LCC Ltd, Demola Seriki for the re-opening of the facility. Sooner had she made the pronouncement did the four other members walked and protested the decision, arguing that the Chairman lacked the jurisdiction to solely take that decision. The dissenting members led by Lagos lawyer, Mr Ebun Adegboruwa was prevented form making their case by the LCC lawyer, Mr Rotimi Seriki and Lagos State Counsle, Mr Enitan Thomas.
