June 26, (THEWILL) – An Ilorin-based Nigerian lady has volunteered to donate her kidney to the ailing daughter of former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.
In a viral video, the lady simply identified as Martha, said she saw it in her dream that she needs to help the sick child of the politician.
THEWILL had reported that Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, were on Thursday, arrested and arraigned before a UK magistrate court for allegedly trafficking of a 15-year-old David Ukpo, into the United Kingdom for a concealed medical procedure to harvest and transplant his kidney to their ailing daughter.
The Metropolitan Police had said that investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May 2022.
On Friday, documents emerged which showed that the alleged victim who was said to be a 15-year-old-child may actually be 21 years.
A letter written by Ekweremadu also suggested that the lawmaker disclosed to the British embassy why he was taking David Ukpo to London.
Senator Ekweremadu, according to the letter, was seeking a kidney transplant for his sick daughter, Sonia, and the procedure was scheduled to take place at the Royal Free Hospital in London.
However, speaking on why she wants to donate her kidney to the daughter of the Ekweremadus, Martha in a viral video said her decision was influenced by a dream she had, to save the life of the senator’s daughter.
Martha also emphasised that her adding decision was selfless.
“I need to help the girl. She is dying. They have already showed me in my dream that I should help the girl. I have already seen it a long time ago. They have already showed me in my dream. I need to do this fast”, she said.
Journalist, Ibitoye Shittu, who met and interviewed the lady wrote: “So I met a lady (Martha) today in Ilorin, who says she’s ready to donate her kidney for the daughter of Ike Ekweremadu….. She said she saw it in a dream that she should help the girl.”
