September 28, (THEWILL) – Ibrahima Konate, the centre-back for Liverpool, has returned to full training after missing two months due to a muscle ailment.
Since limping off in the club’s final preseason match against Strasbourg on July 31, the France international has been sidelined, but the £36 million defender has finished his rehabilitation programme well during the international break and has been given the all-clear to re-join Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Before deciding whether he will play on Saturday at Anfield against Brighton & Hove Albion, his fitness will be evaluated in the coming days. Since Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, and Joe Gomez are all available, there may be no need for him to return before he is fully fit.
After missing Liverpool’s last three games due to a hamstring injury, captain Jordan Henderson is prepared to play in the English Premier League this weekend. While on tour with England, he demonstrated his fitness. He then came on as a late replacement in Monday’s 3-3 draw between Germany and England at Wembley.
Andy Robertson will not make it to Brighton, though. The knee injury the Scotland skipper sustained in the UEFA Champions League match against Napoli is still bothering him.
