Kano, Port Harcourt, Enugu Airports Open April 4

BEVERLY HILLS, March 15, (THEWILL) – The Federal Government has announced April 4, 2021, as the date for the reopening of the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) for international flights while the Port Harcourt and Enugu international airports will be opened 15 April and 3 May respectively.

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said this on Monday at the joint national briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, in Abuja.

The Minister denied that the MAKIA and other airports closed in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, were not reopened like others, for ulterior motive.

According to him, “The airports were shut down, like others across the world. We closed our airports as that was where the virus came into the country.

“We reopened some after many considerations with the other stakeholders. There was no ulterior motive for not reopening the Kano or other airports. There are processes to be followed,” Sirika said.
