Kano Police Splash N1m Reward On 2 Officers Who Shunned N1m Bribe

BEVERLY HILLS, March 26, (THEWILL) – A Police Inspector, Garba Saleh Rabo, with the Operations Department, Kano State Police Command, and one Jamilu Alkasim, have been rewarded for rejecting N1 million offered to them as a bribe.

Rabo and Jamilu Alkasim are attached to the state Consumer Protection Council task force.

The Acting Managing Director, Kano Consumer Protection Council (CPC), Baffa Dan-Agundi presented the Inspector and Jamilu Alkasim to the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Dikko on Thursday.

A statement on Friday by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, said that the CPC managing Director, Dan-Agundi commended both Inspector Garba Saleh Rabo and Jamilu Alkasim for refusing to collect the bribe.

The statement read: ‘’The two personnel, having received information that expired goods worth billions of Naira were kept in a warehouse, stormed the facility, where N1 million was offered as a bribe.

“They rejected the bribe, recovered the expired goods, the money as an exhibit and arrested the suspect.

‘’The agency commended the two personnel and decided to give the same amount in appreciation to them. He called on the general public to continue to support the police and appreciate those with outstanding performances.”

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police Sama’ila Dikko, after presenting the sum of N1 million to the personnel, described their conduct as worthy of emulation.
