September 15, (THEWILL) – Juventus lost 2-1 at home to Benfica in the Champions League as David Neres scored the game-winning goal in the second half, continuing the dismal start of the Old Lady in the current UCL campaign.
It took Arkadiusz Milik just four minutes to open the scoring for Massimiliano Allegri’s side, flicking past Odisseas Vlachodimos to apparently put the hosts in charge.
Joao Mario’s first-half penalty, though, restored parity, and Neres’ goal with a volley after 55 minutes, gave Benfica a tie for first place in Group H with French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Bremer missed a great opportunity to put further pressure on Allegri, and Dusan Vlahovic had a late opportunity to register an equaliser on the score board but the goal was disallowed.
Juve is struggling to get back to winning ways after having a late goal against Salernitana in their previous Serie A game disallowed. On Sunday, they play again in the Serie A at Monza, while Benfica hosts Maritimo in the Primeira Liga.
