July 09, (THEWILL) – Angel Di Maria has been officially confirmed as a Juventus player and he will don jersey number 22 while playing for the Italian side.
The 34-year-old Argentine forward will serve as a temporary addition to Massimiliano Allegri’s assault, as the Bianconeri attempt to reenter the Scudetto race after a two-season setback. In 26 Ligue 1 games last year, Di Maria delivered five goals and eight assists for Paris Saint-Germain.
Juventus has confirmed that Di Maria signed a one-year contract and picked the number 22 jersey. This is in contrast with his numbers at PSG, where the Argentine alternated between 11, 14, and 18. The last time he chose the number 22 was during the 2014/2015 season at Real Madrid.
While star winger, Federico Chiesa, continues his protracted recuperation, Di Maria will be a crucial addition to Allegri’s squad. Chiesa missed much of the year’s action in Serie A due to a cruciate ligament rupture that occurred back in January.
