August 09, (THEWILL) – Juventus and Eintracht Frankfurt have reached an agreement for the highly-coveted Serbian international, Filip Kostic, to join the Serie A side.
The wing-back has been outstanding for Frankfurt in recent years and was crucial to their run to the UEFA Europa League title in 2021–2022, which they won over Rangers on penalties. Kostic had an outstanding 13 assists and seven goals in his fourth season at the Deutsche Bank Park.
Due to that performance, Italian powerhouse, Juventus, were eager to bring the player on board, and they have now succeeded in doing so. Before fully finalising a deal, the 29-year-old is scheduled to pass his physical in Turin.
Earlier in the transfer window, West Ham United was strongly associated with Kostic, and the two parties had undertaken preliminary negotiations in late July. But, La Vecchia Signora has been able to swoop in to get much-needed cover on the left side of their team.
Due to Kostic’s tactical versatility, Maximiliano Allegri will have the choice to use a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 squad formation as the defender will provide ease of alternative styles, effectively filling existing holes in the Juventus backline.
