August 14, (THEWILL) – The All Progressive Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Jigawa South West District, Tijjani Ibrahim Kiyawa, is dead.
Kiyawa had been admitted earlier at an Abuja hospital for a lung infection, but was flown to China for further treatment when his condition deteriorated. He died on Saturday, in a Chinese hospital.
His death came barely three months after he won the APC senatorial ticket for his zone, where he polled 361 votes. He was the lone contestant in the election.
The deceased was one time member, House of Representatives represented Dutse/Kiyawa federal constituency for two terms. He decamped to the ruling APC after losing election in 2015.
He left behind a wife, an aged mother and many children.
Confirming the sad development, the State governor, Muhammad Badaru, described Kiyawa’s death as a great loss not only to his family, but to the Muslim Ummah.
The Governor in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Relations, Habibu Nuhu Kila, condoled the family of the deceased.
The Governor said the death of Hon. Tijjani Ibrahim Kiyawa is a great loss not only to his family but the Muslim Ummah.”
He described late Alhaji Tijjani Ibrahim Kiyawa as as a loyal and dependable politician who contributed immensely to the political development of the country.
“Governor Badaru pray to Almighty Allah to grant him an eternal rest and his family the fortitude to bear the loss”, the statement said.
