June 11, (THEWILL) – Jennifer Lopez has stated that she is not happy when she was asked to share the stage with fellow singer, Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, also known as Shakira, in 2020.
Lopez made this known in her Netflix documentary Halftime.
In 2020, the duo headlined and delivered a spectacular Super Bowl performance and received overwhelming positive response.
But in her new Netflix documentary, Halftime, Lopez revealed that she was not originally a fan of the idea of two global musical superstars sharing the Super Bowl stage at the same time. She said, “it’s the worst idea in the world.”
Lopez was frustrated that she couldn’t have a gig all to herself mostly because of the time constraints that came with having to do the show with another performer.
“If it’s gonna be two headliner, they should’ve given us 20 ( expletive) minutes”, she lamented.
Lopez, to be clear, doesn’t blame Shakira and both artistes did very well and hugged at the end of the show at Miami Hard Rock Stadium in 2020.
Her manager, Benny Medina also voiced her frustration in 2020 over the decision for Lopez and Shakira sharing a stage. She stated that it will negatively impact their performance.
However, their performance was in no way affected by that decision.
