October 01, (THEWILL) – Japan has named her Women’s National Team that will take on the Super Falcons of Nigeria in an international friendly scheduled for October 6.

The announcement was made at a press conference on Friday, by the Japan Football Association to prepare the Nadeshiko Japan for both the friendly against Nigeria and the MS&AD CUP 2022 on October 9 against the New Zealand Women’s National Team.

The team’s championship campaign at the EAFF E-1 Football Championship 2022 in July produced players like Nagano Fuka of the North Carolina Courage and Ueki Riko of Nippon TV Tokyo Verdy Beleza, as well as recent foreign club transfers like Shimizu Risa of West Ham United and Minami Moeka of AS Roma.

Three players from the Under-20 Japan Women’s National Team, which placed second in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2022 were chosen. They are Fujino Aoba, Koyama Shinomi and Hamano Maika. This was Fujino and Koyama’s first call-up to the senior team.

The opportunity to play against a tough side like Nadeshiko Japan will be crucial for Randy Waldrum’s team as they get ready for the Australia/New Zealand FIFA Women’s World Cup, which will take place in July of next year.
