September 21, (THEWILL) – Before the international friendly match on September 27th against the Algerian Desert Foxes, Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, expressed excitement at being back with the team.
The Super Eagles last came together in June for the 2-1 and 10-0 wins against Sao Tome and Principe and Sierra Leone respectively, in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
On September 27, Peseiro and his men would face Algeria at Oran, in a friendly match. So far, 22 players are in camp as of the most recent update, and the Portuguese tactician had already begun working seriously with the players.
Peseiro tweeted about his excitement for the task at hand: “It feels great to be back with the team! Look forward to a week of hard work and training, before the friendly match against Algeria. Let’s go!” He finished the tweet with an emoji of Nigeria, and the hashtag “#SoarSuperEagles” before mentioning the @NGSuperEagles Twitter handle and attaching two pictures of them in training.
Neither Nigeria nor Algeria made it to the Qatar World Cup in 2022. Nevertheless, they would be playing for national pride and for head-to-head records.
