May 23, (THEWILL) – Iretiola Doyle is not happy with the Tweet made by Nollywood producer, Niyi Akinmolayan, about influencer actors. The actress has taken to social media to tackle the movie producer.
In a post on Twitter, Akinmolayan had reprimanded actors and critics for demanding challenging roles in the industry.
He stated that much more challenging roles requires bigger budgets.
“I want a challenging role, I want a challenging role, can you train for free for three weeks? No!!” he tweeted.
“Can you refuse other jobs for two months to be in character for two months without being paid? No, so you see, my dear actor and critics who wants challenging roles. Challenging roles need challenging money.”
In another tweet, he took a dig at some people whom he described as “influencer actors”, but can’t deliver table read.
“Ordinary table read, una no go show, talk less of rehearsal. But I want challenging roles. Influencer actors lol.”
In her reaction, Doyle pointed out that producers like Akinmolayan are guilty of hiring the same influencer actors.
She alleged that his type prioritises social media numbers instead of hiring talents and expertise in the film space.
“Perhaps if the casting is based on talents and the hunger to succeed as opposed to social media numbers and who is willing to push your films aggressively, producers wouldn’t have this particular problem”, she stated.
