October 21, (THEWILL) – Following an alleged altercation Saturday in Rome, Italian DJ and musician Francesco Facchinetti has officially accused UFC star Conor McGregor of assault.
Facchinetti was part of a group invited by McGregor to a party at the St. Regis Hotel in Rome, but when the group attempted to leave, McGregor allegedly struck Facchinetti in the nose and mouth, causing him to suffer a concussion.
Facchinetti said about McGregor: “He is dangerous, he needs to be stopped.”
Dana White, the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, said Tuesday that he did not know anything more than what had been made public: “I honestly don’t even know enough about it to comment on it.
“Obviously I’ve seen what you guys—you guys have seen more than me, actually, to be honest with you. I haven’t talked to Conor, so I don’t know what the truth is. I don’t know exactly what happened. So to comment on it, I really can’t.”
McGregor has a long legal history, including throwing a metal dolly through the window of a bus carrying rival Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.
A woman and her mother filed a lawsuit against McGregor in January, accusing him of sexual assault in 2018. The allegation has been refuted by McGregor. Since January, there has been no new information about the case.
McGregor was also accused of sexual assault on two other occasions, according to reports. Since October 2019, there has been no update on a second investigation in Dublin, and a sexual assault case against McGregor was dismissed by French police in Corsica in April.
After punching a man in a bar in Dublin in 2019, McGregor pleaded guilty to assault. McGregor received a monetary penalty as a result of the incident.
McGregor most recently got into an altercation with musician Machine Gun Kelly in September at the MTV Video Music Awards. McGregor had to be restrained after throwing a drink at MGK.
The 33-year-old is one of the most successful fighters in UFC history, having held titles in the featherweight and lightweight divisions.
McGregor is 22-wins 6-losses in his career, but he has lost each of his last two fights and three of his last four.
McGregor’s most recent fight was in July, when he faced Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. McGregor was knocked out by technical knockout after the doctor had to stop the fight due to a broken leg.
The Irishman is still recovering from his injury, and his return to the Octagon has yet to be determined.
